Joanic
A family by the name of Joanich
This metro station abuts on the square Joanic, at an end of the Villa de Gràcia. With this diminutive of the name Joan, both the square and the station immortalized the Joanich family, old proprietors of the patch of land where the current square is. In 1806 Josep Joanich purchased the property from Antoni Sala, adjacent to the land of the disappeared Casa de Gràcia Can Comte. In 1876 the heir, his grandson Esteve Joanich i March, born in Granollers in 1793, divided it into lots according to a project by Pau Jambrú i Trasserras.
